The person above living in Australia makes me laugh...there are over 30 US military/naval bases in australia...so they think they're safe? heh heh...

Oh well, the spread of radioactive fallout in a full-scale nuclear exchange will cause a worldwide nuclear winter....sorry.

There will be survivors, those in deep shelter who are away from direct hits, but the question for them is how much food and water did they stock up on...will it outlast the nuclear winter above ground?

there are books about it but i will tell you the basics...

there is 2 major things...

the nukes will blow up about 1 mile per bomb
thats what they said 30 years ago so there might be bombs that can blow up 50 miles

the nukes will be set off in big cities and stratigic locations....

if you are caught in the blast of the bomb, you will die
the bombs are huge...

if you dont get killed by the fire, then you will probly die from "nuclear fallout"
fallout is : the bombs blow everything up and it all turns to dust and the dust will have "radiation" and it will get in the air and go everywhere. the radiation can kill you ez...

the radiation goes away at a rate of about... multiply the time since the bomb by ten and the radiation will be 7 times less strong.

the radiation in the air will soak thru anything.. so you gotta fing a bomb shelter...

you can make one...

strong and thick things can stop the radiation from getting in... like steel metal, concrete rock, wood,

if you wanted to survive the fallout you could make barricades to block it as it absorbs thru everything, you gotta put stuff in the way...

it can go deep into the earth too so its hard...

you could find out where a fallout shelter is

i think that if there was nuclear war, then there would be big war in the water.. like the navy with the subs would be safe but they would have to fight and be low on supplies

By moving out of the US as soon as possible, especially if you live in the New York, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Colorado, and Nevada areas. These will be the first targets of the terrorists who currently have nuclear weapons that have been smuggled through our unsecured ports, while we were worrying about building a stupid fence that isn't going to work, and was is a huge waste of taxpayer money.

why would you want to survive?

During the Regan administration, his scientific and military advisers wrote an essay on a "winnable nuclear war". It basically discussed dealing with human illnesses after a nuclear war from radiation and rebuilding the country by keeping the sick people motivated.

It was the most laughable piece of crap I have read in a long long time. There is NO winnable nuclear war and you wouldn't want to see the after math. Who knows what government would exist, if any and what your grand kids will look like after radiation deformities.

Good Luck

P.S. I knew that one would get feathers ruffled. I did my job.

In a nuclear fallout shelter (lead to block the radiation), but even that wouldn't work if there were a really bad war because radiation stays around a long time and causes health problems.

People in Nagasaki and Herishoma (please forgive the spellings) would tend to say Yes. As they, 60 some years later, are there to tell the story.

However global nuclear war. I think some people would survive, but I think that they also would not be alive long. People in the two towns of Japan still expierence higher rates of cancer and Lukemia's over and above the general population.

The more self-sustaining your lifestyle the better the chances...living outside major metropolitan areas, the ability to plant your own gardens, putting in supplies of canned goods and other non-perishables to last many months, having a reliable water supply, generators, goods for trading, and unfortunately guns for self-defense.

First you have to have a survivor mindset. Setup a bunker that can support you and your family for at least 1 - 2 years. You will need food, water, fuel, etc. Also, guns and ammo to defend your stash. You must be willing to refuse to take in those who did not prepare, your supplies will be limited. In many cases you may have to kill those who want to get your food etc, can you do that?
