I've heard that everyone has a set point from 1-10, ten being the highest. Actually I don't know anyone who is at a ten, but we all move either up or down from there. Some people have more drastic swings than others, thats where your meds come in to help. Anyway, I'm about a 7 1/2 normally, but today I feel like I'm at an 8. Some people genetically have really low set points, so other than meds, you need to find the things in life that increase your happiness, so if you're at a 2, find things you enjoy in life that will make you a 7.

13 to 20% of americans get clinically depressed sometime in their life. On average the clinically depressed person will have 5 major episodes of depression during their life. So yes you may be clinically depressed and if it is hard to function in your daily activities seek help and get some medication. It is just like having diabetes and needing insulin no different. It is a real medical illness and it happens. Look at the reference for symptoms and more. Good luck.

Yes. I try to not go towards meds (for myself) but everyone else is different. Staying busy helps, biking, making plans and doing activites to stay out of the house. I keep a calander and keep a schedule for me. If I find a blank area..I try to think of ideas of how to fill my time.

The more I sit still the more depressed I get.

I just recently started adding a one a day vitamine with everything I can get in it with another SAM e vitamin. SAMe vitamines help produce the good feel feelings in your brain to have a more positive outlook.

For me to conquer depression without meds is extremely important to me so I can say at the end of the day...Yes, I am stronger and today I did not let it beat me because I choose for it to not to

Not all people are the same, its your choice but some people do need to go to the doctor. Find it within yourself to change your life.
