I hear people argue all the time about which one is more intelligent. If you ask me who cares how intelligent they are, but which one do you think is more useful.

Cats are more useful. There a lot more pests in your house than there will ever be burglars and your cat will take care of them all. Besides, if you have a super-duper cat like mine, she's an excellent watch cat! And -even though you said who cares about intelligence- I've screamed "get on your bed" to my dogs so many times, my cat just sort of picked it up. She goes, too.

Dogs, well, I find them to be more of a chore than anything. Picking up after them, the biggest one. They're like toddlers that will never grow up.

And, to the person who said cats run away from everything, mine doesn't. She stands her ground in every fight she has against my dogs...even my boxer. She tolerates them poking and teasing her, but she will knock the crap out of them if they step out of line. She is also very protective of me. She has attacked my husband when we play fight, whereas my dogs usually attack whoever is getting beat up. They're bullies I say!

Depends on what you mean by useful. Both dogs and cats are wonderful companions. Dogs are great if you need an excuse to get out and exercise because they need 2 or 3 walks every day. Cats are great company if you're home a lot. My cats love to cuddle when I'm watching TV or reading in bed. They're great company and they keep me entertained with all their antics.

A dog can fetch things if you train it to do so. Also a dog may
round up sheep if you had sheep. A cat may catch mice or
other rodents, if you have such a problem to take care of. My
cat also catches lizards. If you need to be rescued from a
burning house, a dog seems to have a higher probability than
a cat. So maybe the answer is a dog.

Useful-DOG, have you ever seen a cat detecting bombs, or gaurding a home? Has a cat ever pulled your wagon with the kid in it or let the little hang off of it to learn how to walk? Don't get me wrong, cats are useful to house-people who enjoy the different personalities that comes with a cat. They are great for elders who don't have much space or activity. They are the robot pet that only needs food, water the occasionaly pet on the head-if they aren't moody, and of course the ever so fun changing of the litter box.
I vote DOG

It depends. I got a cat, cause we had a mouse. Well last christmas she went into heat, foulnd the mouse, and tried to make babies with it. I don't think he'll ever come back though. she's not the best mouser, but we love her anyway. Dogs are more useful in professional ways, finding things, attacking people.....I would have to say, I will never justify my getting an animal by its usefulness again.

If you live on a farm, a cat will keep the rodent population down. Short of that, a dog can alert you to strangers hanging around, gets you out walking and exercising and offers YOU more mental stimulation.

Nether, no mater how much you bathe them they still stink, and you still have to pick up their ****. I have neighbors on one side of the house with three dogs that are constantly jumping over or under the fence and destroying everything in my yard, and the neighbors on the other side have a cat and a dog that are just as bad, my front yard is constantly full of **** from those animals. so nether of them animals are use full.

As far as usefulness, I am going with the dog. As intelligence goes, I am going to stay away from that question.

Good Luck and Take Care

Well...

Dog: you need to take it for a walk every day, It is good for watch dog and is good for rescuing people and finding them.

Cat: aways can run away and it is no good for any thing.

I think a dog is better.
