I am at the gym 5 nights a week for 3 hours a night then i'm at school and i am only really home for 2 hours on week days and i am home almost all weekend. I was wondering if you think I have enough time for a dog?

No. You definitely do not have time for a dog. Dogs are a huge time commitment. You would have to choose between the dog and gym. School is not optional so you can't save time there. Dogs need to be walked often, played with and cared for. They need almost as much attention as a toddler at first. Even well trained dogs need to be watched over so they don't get into things. It takes a lot of work to train a dog. Contact your local 4H dog project. Attend a meeting. Talk to the kids in the project about the time commitment. Ask to read their project record book. You will be surprised at how much work and how expensive a dog really is.

If you need a "dog-fix" volunteer at your local Humane Society. That way you can have the fun of walking and playing with dogs that really need you.

I've had dogs almost my whole life. I've learned that with the puppy I have now, I didn't give nearly as much time as I should have in the past with my other dogs. Honestly, Ceasar Milan changed my life as a dog owner, as someone in a relationship and maybe one day if I have children, as a mommy.

I used to get up in the morning feed the dog, let them do their business and leave for work and/or school. Hours later, he/she would be running around like crazy and I would feel so overwhelmed to even walk them.

You really need to consider if you and another caretaker can spend more than just feeding, and short walks with your dog. I feel so guilty for being an owner who left my dogs for 8+ hours a day, almost everyday. My puppy now gets at least 1-2 hour walks, 2-3 times a day. I've been so blessed to have a fiance and schedule to allow for that. I totally cut out going to the gym by excercising with my puppy, maybe you can do something like that. I hope you that if you do decide to get a dog, that you can make adjustments to your schedule for that fuzzy little friend. He will be more than an addition to your life, he will change your life. Good luck!

Do you have enough time for a baby or even a friend? If the answer is no then don't waste a dogs life that it could have like hiking or biking or being all dressed up and played with. If you want to quit the gym and find outdoor stimuli and exercise which is just as good and cheaper, then get a work out buddy canine. They bring a lot of emotional comfort and companionship, and unlike friends, they will never turn you down for a work out.

I have 3 dogs, I know how much time it takes to have a great pet and how much time I have to spend with them on a daily basis. I hate to be the one to say this but no. Dogs take a lot of time, consider how time it takes for exercise, grooming, feeding, socialization, trips to the vet, etc. They need human interaction. 2 hours is not really enough to spend with them. If you were to cut your time at the gym and walk or run with the dog that could make a difference. Personally if I were you, I would wait until you have more time to spend with a dog.

Do you have time for yourself? If not then a dog is not the answer for ya. A cat or a bird maybe a more suitable pet. A bird likes a window and a radio. A cat likes a sunny warm spot and food in their belly with attention paid to them when they want it.
Or just wait to get a pet until your like becomes a little more setteled.

NOT AT ALL!!!!! Dogs need alot of love and this is how they end up on the streets and at the pound. Please think about a cat or something that does not require alot of time like a dog. I have 4 Italian Greyhounds and they freak when I am gone for a couple hours.....Please rethink...

Get a goldfish, dear. You don't have time for a dog and it will only turn out badly for the dog...which is not fair at all.
