The Bible, Qur'an, and other classical documents are full of contradictions and factual errors. They were written by human beings in ancient civilizations, expressing the scientific and moral speculations of their day. They do not convey the eternal word of God, but rather the yearnings of ancient tribes based on oral legends and received doctrines; as such, they are hardly relevant to all cultures and times. The Old and New Testaments are not accurate accounts of historical events. The reliability of the Old Testament is highly questionable in the events and personages it depicts; Moses, Abraham, Joseph, etc. are largely uncorroborated by historical evidence. As for the New Testament, scholarship has shown that none of its authors knew Jesus directly. The four Gospels were not written by eyewitnesses but are products of oral tradition and hearsay. There is but flimsy and contradictory evidence for the virgin birth, the healings of Jesus, and the Resurrection.

I was raised by a father that taught theology classes encompassing all religions, but also in the Christain church. Churchs start as a grouping of those with like beliefs- a place to come together. Unfortunately many are used to influence(the sheep), wrongly "Preach" and sway people who do not think much on their own. The concept is a solid one- the physical fact is lacking, I don't go anymore due to that. I pray everyday and keep my somewhat hippie beliefs to myself because of my neighborhood but we are all here to learn- to GROW spiritually and however that works for each individual is the road we should go down. Many religions overlap hugely, and many have viable teachings-I have my own list on the side of the frig. I like-
THE TEN RULES OF BEING HUMAN
1. You will recieve a body
2.You will be presented with lessons
3.There are no mistakes, only lessons
4.Lessons are repeated until learned (my son hates when I say this one)
5.Learning does not end
6."There" is no better than "here"
8. What you make of your life is up to you
9.All the answers lie inside
10. You will forget all of this at birth-
Also, "Only Robinson Crusoe had everything done by Friday"
(that ones for stress!)
not traditional but it works for me. I do get sick of all the interpretations told as truth......Regards

Speaking for the Bible, there are no contradictions in it that destroy its understanding. Many things seem like contradictions until you read further.
For example, the Old Testament says that Israel would be a nation with so many people that it would outnumber the sand pebbles on a beach. God adds later that this would be the case if and only if the Jews obey him. They commited apostasy several times and now are a smaller remnant than what they would have been.
Doing works like praying five times a day or listening to priests is not a requirement to go to heaven. All you need is faith. The Catholic Church and the Muslims have added manmade traditions to their religions that do not matter to God . True biblical Christianity is not that tedious.

Catholics:

Do not worship the cross, empty buildings painted pictures or god's symbols. We worship God.

Our Priests are VERY educated, it takes a minimum of 6 years of college plus graduate work to become a Priest.

Misconceptions abound!

Peace, and God Bless you!

I believe that it is a good idea to follow Christian values that don't go out of date.
Don't lie, steal, murder, adultery and love your family
Be generous with others, and be forgiving. Love your enemies it will drive them crazy. Don't follow what rich religious organizations tell you they lie and steal from the poorest of people. Get married to a life partner and love your children.
Don't be materialistic, enjoy life it is all to short.
No matter who tells you find out if it is the truth. Did Jesus want his birthday celebrated? Was he born on Dec 25? Is Santa Clause a lie? Do I want to lie to my children? What about Easter bunnies, should I incorporate a lie when I tell how Jesus died for our sins? In other words use common sense and follow the bible not your preacher.

To know for a fact that there was no God one would have to be all knowing. If you were all knowing then you yourself would be God... Since you are not all knowing and you cannot say for a fact that there is noGod . So you would be stupid to look down on others for believing when there is the possibility that he exist

What makes you think that priests are uneducated? You do realize, of course, that in order to become an ordained priest, one must receive a university education, don't you?
