Yes, Martial Arts HAS helped me greatly in the years that I've spent studying.

it's not just a hobby to me anymore, but a way of life, I'm always looking forward to the next time I enter the class.

and it does help you deal with insecurities in life, such as thinking how stupid or weird you may have felt when you first learned your basic forms like learning to walk all over again; but it was merely learning a coordination with your body, but now since you realize that it's actually coming together; you don't feel so unnerved by it.

Martial Arts is just another way for you to be a better person in life, if you're receptive enough to learn it.

And now you're beginning to see it, this is just scratching the surface dude, keep it up and there'll be so much more as you progress.

I took Isshin Ryu for about 4 years. I loved it! I don't think I got a better sense of right and wrong, what I got was a clearer sense of myself and what I could do not only physically (of course) but also emotionally (it's hard not to cringe when a 6' guy throws a kick at your head) and psychologically ( when put in a sleeper hold and starting to loose conscience, it's a freak out). I found myself being more sure that I could handle any situation that might come up. It does shape up that body too.

It's called self-confidence. One of the best things about the Martial Arts is the newly discovered self-discipline. It works for children too. During all of the training you remember that you have always know what's right and wrong and now you tend to follow the right path.

All these things you are noticing should be hapenning. It tells me that
1) You have a good instructor
&
2) You are paying attention to what your instructor is teaching you.

Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

Not really... I had that stuff before. Martial arts has helped me "hone" those skills... but didnt make them. Its not a magical science to a better person.

Or maybe you are having a modicum of discipline for the first time in your life, and it is naturally carrying over to the other things you are doing?

1) Never waste a move
2) Watch your opponents eyes, they get bigger, when
attempting a move
3) Never under-estimate your opponent
4) Power is nothing, without control

Hopefully, this will be of some assitance !
