My boyfriend had been a long time smoker. He quit about 4 months ago, but I think he has started smoking again. He, of course denies it. Is there a way to prove he is smoking?

I see alot of people say to smell his clothes and his breath.
But another thing you cantry is smelling his hair and his hands.
the smell on clothing can be covered up with colongeor a change of clothes. the smell on the hands tends to stick around alil longer even if you wash them. and the hair is an obvious, unless he just showered it will still be tell tale. Good luck.

Wait a minute: he quit two years ago and he's come home a couple of times with the smell of smoke on his fingers? Why are you making this such a big deal? He doesn't not have the strong emotional motivation you have for quitting, but he still quit. The fact that he has relapsed a couple of times should not be such a big deal. Tell him that you know he smokes sometimes and that you worry about his health, tell him you will support his continuous attempts to quit. And don't make such a big deal about it, it's not like he's shooting up.

Well cigarettes are a very hard smell to mask. Sniff his clothes, his hair, his apt, his car. Look for matches and lighters. If your not a smoker you usually dont have those things laying around. Another good thing to try is to show up unexpected at his place. If he's smoking you will catch him. Give him a break though. Cig addiction is very hard to break.

If you smell cigarette smoke on him, in his car, his breath, etc., then he is smoking again. Simple. And to the poster cq, they must be from another planet to have answered in the fashion they did. Their answer has NOTHING to do with the question!

Does he disappear a lot after meal times ... is he wearing a lot more cologne ... is he always chewing gum ... smell his clothes at the end of the day ... smoking is hard to hide after awhile ... he'll slip one day and you'll find out ... !

Smell his breath, and him. There is no way to cover that awful smell. Any Non-Smoker knows this is true.

Either you trust him or you don't.
If you don't trust him, don't be with him. If he's lying, break up with him. If you don't want a smoker, find a non-smoker. Why all the drama? Find a nonsmoker you can trust, or live with who he is.
