OH! I feel your pain!
I had the same thing happen to me as well. My hair would fall out at an alarming rate. My shower stall would clog up every time I washed my hair.
The Dr's I talked to weren't much help. They all said that losing 100 hairs a day was normal and that my hair was thick anyway. They never ran any tests - they just poo-pooed my fears. My dermatologist even suggested using Rogain for women!
Long story short, once my joints started aching (at 21 years old), the Rhumatologist finally ran some blood tests. It turned out I had several auto-immune disorders - lupus, hyper-thyroid being two of the biggies, hairloss being a symptom of both!
My suggestion is to be firm and assertive when you see your Dr. Tell him your concerns and dont let them blow you off like they did me.
Good luck to you!

Patterned baldness?
Look at your heredity and where you come from.
Diet Related?
Look at your diet or the lack of good diet habits.
Hair Health?
Look at the products you are using.
Look at the whether you are really thinning or if you are just loosing the typical amount of hair everyone loses everyday.
It is said that the average person looses 100 hairs a day but if you feel the scalp you will feel the stubble of new hair coming in.
Are you having chemotherapy?
Are you anorexic?
Go see a Specialist.

I had the same problem around the same age. My doctor told me to go and buy some over the counter pregnancy vitamins. (I know it sounds crazy because I wasn't pregnant) But he said they are just multi vitamins and when women take them while pregnant it makes their hair and nails grow faster. So I trusted him and started taking them. Sure enough it worked. I stopped losing so much hair and my hair actually became thicker then it was before. It took a couple of months to really get the full effect but it was worth it. Hair loss generally stems from a vitamin deficiency. Good luck and I hope this helps you!!

Some women do go completely bald, but it is very very rare. I'd recommend getting your thyroid hormone levels checked. Hypothyroidism causes hair loss. I know because I have it and when i'm not taking me meds, my hair falls out in huge clumps. Also look at your diet. Are you lacking any vital nutrients or vitamins? That can have a big effect on hair loss.

Do you usually have your hair pulled back like your avatar? That can do it in front, especially if it's pulled tightly back. Hats can contribute to hair loss.
Look into the stress angle and the other suggestions too, especially asking your doctor in case it's a symptom of something.

Most likely you are just one of those people who gets thinning hair early. Have you ever seen those ladies that have hair so thin that you can see all of their scalp?
That's a shame, you are too young to have that happen to you. If I were you I would get used to wearing hats...

When I was 24 I started turning grey and my hair was falling out. My doc tested my thyroid and found out it was not functioning right - too low. You might want to have that checked. Another big sign is if you feel tired or sluggish all the time.
Good luck!

It could be a systemic problem, such as a hormone imbalance: you should have a medical evaluation. It can also be related to stress, genetics, and dietary factors. There are solutions. Here's some good information

you might have alopecia. it is a disease of the hair folicle.
i had it about four years ago. Go to your dermatologist they can help you. My doctor gave me a shot in my hip and some cream for my scalp. You have to stop putting chemicals in your hair for about 6 months. Your hair will start to grow back
