No it's an old wifes tale - however what it does is get rid of split ends to help keep hair in good condition meaning that when it does grow it is in better condition.

Your hair grows half a millimeter per day, so about half an inch every month or 6 inches a year, it grows faster if you are younger it is also dependent on health and genetics.

How fast your hair grows and how long is also dependant on the hair folicle - these create new cells that are pushed out and die making hair, they have growth periods, then rest periods, then growth periods again, during the rest periods this is where the hair shaft breaks (falls out). So how fast your hair grows/how long your hair grows depends on the folicle and growth period - nothing to do with what you do to the dead cells/hair.

No. Cutting your hair does not make it grow out of your head faster. Your hair is waste material being expelled from your body and cutting it off does not make your body expel it faster.

The width of your hair shaft is genetically determined, as is the length of your anagen, or hair growth cycle.

No, cutting your hair only keeps your ends healthy. It does not make it grow faster.

No, the part of the hair you cut is dead, has no effect on the live growing part beneath the scalp. Hair grows at a constant rate of just under 1mm a day no matter what you do to the visible portion.

It's a myth... all you manage to do with cutting your hair is only making it shorter... it's good to cut your hair to get rid of the split ends but not to make it grow faster...

yh it is true
it migh sound bizzare but yet it is real true.
the facts are that if you cut your hair (trim it is a better phrase) your hair strengthens as then there are no split ends and that way ur hair grows healthy and longer faster. that of course dosent mean if someone wants to grow their hair they have to rush to the salon every 2 weeks (Lol) but use hair masks and not alot of straightening irons... along with serum for dry ends and a trim every month or 2 and slowly slowly there will be a change... xxx

every day we loose many hairs mainly due to individual hairs braking/snapping. cutting your hair does not make your hair grow faster. but if you have regular hair cuts then this makes your hair stronger because it eliminates split ends and if your hair is stronger and does not snap as much it will grow much longer.

No your hair grows at its own pace, usually an inch a month in summer and 1/2 inch in winter.

Also it will grow for two years and then stop I've heard.

Yes you are cutting off the really dead stuff that is taking up nutrients. A lil trim once month will help you hair grow faster.
