I had 2 surgeries on my left breast, 1 trip to the E.R., a 4 day stay in the hospital 3 weeks ago, and my surgery sight keeps opening up. 2 doctors later still the same painful problem.

Proteus is a bacteria. Antibiotics are the drug of choice for this. I have attached a link that includes a list of drugs that work against this organism. You should be taking one of these. If these drugs are not working, then you may have a strain that is resistant to the drug you are on. Your doctor should order a wound culture to see which antibiotic will work the best. It may take many weeks to clear this up. If none of this is working, then request a referral to an Infectious Disease doctor.

I have no idea, but I am sure there must be some sort of medication - antibiotic - for that. Isn't it a parasite? Ask your doctor, I could be completely wrong. Good luck.

PS. Have a sensitivity test to the bacteria you have, to see what antibiotic it is sensitive to. Some develop the ability to resist some antibiotics, so you need the sensitivity test.
