Depends on his/her character. Remember that dogs are like people. Some follow rules, some don't. My Chihuahua is good about that, but I have friends who say thier Chihuahua isn't.

Yes! I have one and he's just over a year old. We have trained him to sit, lay down and shake. The best part... we litter trained him so we don't have to worry about taking him outside! He uses it every time and has never had an accident. A lot of the training is how much effort you put into it as the trainer. Good luck!

Chihuahuas are a sensitive breed. They are usually one person dogs. One of the keys with them is to socialize them very well as puppies. Training them to a litter box or wee wee pads is a great alternative of you live in a colder climate or an apartment. They tend to be barkers so keep that in mind. They are very affectionate and a riot to watch play! I have one Chihuahua and two boxers and my Hooie is the brains of the outfit!! As for ease of training, they are smart but with housebreaking they need to go about every 45mins as a 10wk old puppy so you have to watch them like a hawk for at least the first couple of weeks. I highly recommend crate training.

Issue with training is the trainer and not the dog. It's how you train the dog, all dogs are smart and love to make their owners happy.

I went to a friends house who has a 6month old westie terrier puppy and she wasn't able to train the dog to sit. She called her dog dumb and stupid. I trained her dog to sit on command in 30 minutes using a clicker and treats. The issue lies with the trainer and not the dog. Some dogs might be deemed un-trainable due to medical issues sometimes.
