What exactly is the difference between the South Beach diet and a low glycemic index diet? Have you ever tried the south beach/low glycemic index diet? Any luck?

The South Beach diet is based of the glycemic index. I have lost 10 lbs on my own and am phasing in the South Beach diet. I think it is a really smart diet. If it doesn't work then you are not sticking with trying to eat right.

This is not the South Beach diet, but it is much stricter version that helps get the ball rolling. I ate the following for 10 days and lost 10 pounds.
Breakfast: 8 oz grapefruit juice or 1/2 grapefruit, 2 eggs, 2 bacon
Lunch: Grapefruit (same as above) Salad, Lean Meat
Dinner: Grapefruit, Salad/Vegetable, Lean Meat
Snack: 8oz milk or 8oz vegetable juice

No cheese, no bread, no pasta, no rice, no cereal, no dairy (except for milk in snack). Use sugar-free salad dressing.

I lost 4 pounds in the first 3 days. That really helps with your motivation. Drink lots of water and try to exercise. Be creative with your food so you don't get bored. Turkey meatballs, shish kabobs, shrimp salad, fish, omelets.

Good luck

i have not tried either but I know that things like south beach or atkins starve on one food component and over eat on the other, which is not possible for long term , fails commonly and not recommended by medical professionals. I like low glycemic index idea because it sounds more like a balanced diet idea, you could talk to a nutritionist through your doctor, try mypyramid.gov too, good luck
