I am British and speak German - I would not say German is nasal. French is nasal. German is guttral (lots of teeth and lips etc used)
I am afraid I cannot really say that either American or British English sound like German.

The British R-sound is closer to other Germanic languages, especially the way it is "swallowed" or disappearing in certain words.
The American R-sound is pronounced sort of flat on the tongue, the Germanic is either pronounced by the tip of the tongue or the so called root of it, not in the middle as the American English is known for.
