My aunt is on a fixed income, and her prescriptions for Parkinson's medication have skyrockted to more than $750 each month, which she cannot afford.

There is an organization advertising on TV right now - the ad shows a bus and I *think* it's Montel Williams talking about how drug companies will pay for prescriptions for individuals who can't pay for them themselves.

I cannot remember the website or name of this company, but every time I see the commercial I think it would really help my aunt. Does anyone know what the organization is or can anyone remember the website? I think it is pp.org?

Thanks so much to anyone who can remember...

Program Also Refers 45,000 Patients to Free Health Clinics in First Three Months of Operation

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA), today announced it has matched more than 2.5 million patients to patient assistance programs around the country. The national program -- sponsored by America's pharmaceutical research companies to help patients in need access prescription medicines -- is the largest private-sector effort to connect low-income, uninsured or underinsured patients to prescription assistance programs, many of which provide medicines for free or nearly free.

I see the commericials for Monteil also-did you check to see if he has a "web site?" Also if your Aunt is on Medicare she might be able to qualify for state Medicaid. Have her check with the Agency on Aging in her area--or the State department that handles food stamps, cash and medical assistance in her state. Have her apply for "QMB"( I thinks Qualifed Medical Benefits) or "LMB" ( I think Limited medical Benefits) to get assistance paying her medications. Both are Federal programs.
..also, sometimes doctors have access to companies that will provide "free" medication based on her income...so check there also...Good Luck hope this helps...

Contact the manufacturer of her drugs...most of them have programs in place for just this cause.

You need to find out what she is taking...even with the organization info they can't help you much without the drug name.

It depends on where you are from and even if you're in the US...it varies by state. Start by contacting your local county nursing service or Human Services Dept. They should be able to head you in the right direction.
