Well, most copies of the Bible that are stolen are stolen from hotels. First, the hotels did not actually put them there, but some Christian organization that wants people to have access to the Bible, so no harm done. Second, I would assume that many of the people that steal the Bible just started reading it in the hotel, and then they feel really, really bad when they get to the 10 commandments!!!

VERY INTERESTING how come-if your going to be a thief why not steal the only cure that teaches-thou who steals-be born anew and steal no more but learn to use your hands to work with (not pick pocket type work either)

Jesus says "except ye repent and be born again, ye cannot see the kingdom of heaven." John 3

why not get the cure from stealing and from hell-best thing to get-and in hotels the Gideons give them freely and replace them -so its a 50/50 if they are stolen or alowed to be taken! but good view sayin book stores gets them taken david in His amazing grace and the bible 2

I really doubt that it's the most stolen book, because any Christian who had access to one would definitely give it to someone that needed it or wanted it. Christians give them away all the time. It's encouraging people to read it, and peak their curiosity. I don't think that God would punish anyone who stole a Bible for the purpose of wanting to know more about scripture.

Who would not give their Bible to anyone who asked for help? But stealing a Bible means that many would not give their Bible to someone who needs help. Maybe we should look more closely at the concept of ownership.
Can someone really own the word of God?

Thou shalt not steal is in the old testament. Christians are supposed to follow the example of Jesus who stole a donkey because he needed it. Nothing wrong with stealing as long as you follow Jesus. That is all that is important.

same question over an over.

Gideon place Bibles in rooms and hundreds of other places for them to be taken and hopefully read.
They are placed with the intent of being "took" and read.

What is freely given is not stealing.

Commandment also says not to bear false witness against thy neighbor- so stop calling people thieves!

read that BIBLE you took!

Because whoever stole the bible had obviously not read it and had not as yet learned that it is a sin to steal!! That should be obvious to any moron!!
