They're psychotic! LOL Really they like to play and running is good for the cardio vascular system.

My two cats do that all the time. Yesterday, Figaro started to chase his tail and spun around a few times and then took off really fast down the hall! Rosina, my other cat, seeing Figaro take off so decided she would chase him and they ran around like crazy for about 15 mins. They stopped and 3 or 4 minutes later, Rosina just suddenly jumped up and took off down the hall. Figaro was about a foot behind her. They must be hopped up on catnip!!! LOL

Have a great day!!!

Members of the cat family have an instinctual need for speed. Survival of cats depends upon their ability to select and outrun their prey. The ability to spring, for quick starts, and run faster than their next meal enables their suvival.

So now cats have become housecats, and no longer "need" this skill. Something inside that cat doesn't know that and keeps the skill handy.

Living on a farm, its not uncommon for cats to "appear". Sometime they are dumped, and sometimes, who knows? But, no matter from where they came, they are hunters. Cats on a farm mean fewer mice, rats, rabbits, even chipmunks.

They learn from their mothers, but there is also something instinctual. They are Fast!

Enjoy your glimpse into the primal nature of your cat!

It usually just pent up energy. A form of exercise for them. It happens more towards night usually.Often during stormy weather that affects cats and they also tend to have that crazy few minutes of tearing through the house.

Don't you ever get a burst of energy and clean or play in the park, laugh hystarically (spelling) wrestle with your friends, boyfriend or husband. Same thing, they love to play and they don't really have another outlet, unlike us, who can go bowling, or play tennis. Enjoy it.

Most cats are psycho cases...mine have been! After mine goes #2 in his litter box, he runs away from it! I can sorta understand that, but it is just so funny!

Because they love to play and work off that cat chow.

they are playing or have a burst of energy. If they have some flees they could be biting and your cat can't sit still.
