Well there are many reasons for this. It may be a case of differing wealth. But then again, this often has no effect. Its mostly about the perceived worth of items that makes a difference.
Eg, A person who really loves mars bars tends not to look at the price and are willing to pay anything for it. Versus, say a mother who thinks mars bars are bad for your health and have little value. She would be more conscious of the money she was handing over.

Some people feel that they have to complain about everything - I live with someone like this and I cannot tell you how embarrassing and boring it gets.

I've worked in retail and programmed EPOS till systems and the one thing that we all agreed on was if the product came in priced (RRP) packaging that was the price it went out at.

If they don't like it, they can always shop somewhere else.

Just smile sweetly and think 'YEAH Yeah Yadda Yadda' until they shove off.

its called 'supply and demand' where a customer has a demand for this product, where a high demand to small supply- it makes business sence to maximise the price.

ie. a can of coke can fetch £100 in a desert, but 50p in a shopping centre- supply and demand. if however ppl don't want a product, and it is high supply, then it is sold at a low cost.

the ultimate way price is set is, if you are willing to pay it...the price will not go down.

It depends how much you want it!!

A pint can be one price in one bar and more expensive somewhere else, but if I want that pint I'm gonna drink it!

Same as the Indian Take-Out I get on the way home - the one further away may be cheaper, but damned if I'm gonna walk that far for it when there's one right on the corner!!!

Well, food is the one thing that I dont skimp on. I will pay whatever it costs for food but I will wait until something goes on sale for clothes.
where as other people are the complete opposite.
