I'm not saying every guy that is like that has a hard time showing his emotions, but if a girl told you her feelings, would it make it awkward for you, for you to come forward, if you're the type that likes to take charge? The reason I ask is because I just told a guy (through email because he had to move back home) my feelings after a year of having a casual relationship with him.So if he's the type that likes to take charge, would that make it hard for him since I did that, or would it make it easy for him to open up? How much time or space should I give him to get back to me about it?

Ego isn't exactly the same as take charge. Take charge is more confident and outgoing. Ego is insecure and making sure others or himself think of him a certain way.
Getting a guy to show his emotions takes a lot of time and trust. A guy has to know you won't break up with him after he shares his soul.
It is kind of the opposite for men and women. Women show their emotions when they like someone or to get closer to them, men typically need to be close to someone and really really like them before they spill their guts. It is a good way to tell if a guy is completely into you and you should expect it from guys you are just starting to date.
