I have natural light red hair. I am now getting white. Should I dye it or leave it. I've been told this color will not come out of a bottle.

Leave it alone! If the gray ever gets real bad you can do some high lights to camouflage it.

Just remember that red hair is hard to dye, period. There is some sort of chemical that makes it hard for boxed colour to take.
You CAN attempt to dye it back if you don't like how it looks and although your natural colour may not come from a box, a professional can get it 99%.

Try it, do it! Have fun! It's only hair.

Just highlight your hair. Because I know some one who dyed her hair and so had to keep dyeing it because it didn't come out right and just made her hair look worse! She kept having to spend a lot of money on her hair and never really got the color she wanted it to be! So Just try the highlights and if it looks okay then wait a week or two and add more highlights! Good Luck!

Going from red hair to white hair will be VERY damaging to your hair. It can be done, but make sure you give yourself conditioning treatments every couple of days to rebuild the strength in the hair. Your hair might look frizzy or look like cotton candy a lot because of the chemical that will be used. Color will not be able to lift your hair that light. Your gonna have to go with bleach. You need to see a professional if you want it done right. You can try it yourself, but are you gonna know what to do with it if it gets messed up? In my experience not to many people like the ending results when they have to do something drastic like this to their hair. Good Luck. hope this helps

I have the same problem. I get low-lights in red and high-lights in blond. A good stylist should be able to match your natural color. If you are low on money, go to a school of hairstyling. The girls are wonderful, it take a little more time but they do a great job.

I say go ahead if you want to. The great thing about coloring your hair is it is temparary. if you dont like it after you do it, it will grow out. Even the so called permantant hair dye is tempary because your hair never stops growning and eventualy the color will grow out to the color is was. just cut off the colored part and wel-la...your hair as it was before.

oh how I wish my hair would not grow just so I didnt have to keep dying it to hide the white..sigh

Grey hair is very sophisticated these days, and all shades of red are difficult to match. A good salon could help you, though.

They make red henna that is nice and non damaging, it's cheaper than salon color and leaves your hair in much better shape, blends better and fades very very slowly.
