Just by his positive influence? Sort of like idolizing Ghandi?

Or does worshipping jesus mean you also have to worship god and be christian?

seems to me these are just simantics. Jesus and the Holy Spirit are in the end conduits to God. It is a little like talking to a phone that has life and wires without a solid form.

There is not anything that can be without God so if we are talking that God does exist then no matter what you do it is in some way a communication with God, like reading this answer for instance.

In my opinion, it would be no different from idolizing Ghandi or Martin Luther King Jr. or Mother Theresa.

I am not Christian. I have my own set of beliefs based on a mixture of religions and mythologies, mainly Hindu and Pagan religions, but I still think Jesus was real. I believe he was probably a extremely kind human being who spent his life trying to do good and help others, just like the people I mentioned above, and I find no conflict in following some of his teachings--that we should show kindness and forgiveness to everyone--even though I am a non-Christian.

In all honestly, your beliefs are the one thing no one can tell you is right or wrong, because there is no real proof for ANY of it. Just believe what you feel in your heart is right.

You can worship anyone or anything you desire. Man has created Gods for as long as he has been on this earth because he does not want to die. He then goes out to kill anyone that doesn't worship in the same way. The Bible is a history book and also an attempt to know where we came from and where we are going. Everyone has their own idea of what religion is all about.

Jesus are just another human and god is just another illusion...they can't combine together as one.

Religion is only a teaching, teaches us to be good man and woman....

As long as u are happy with what u have own, what is the point of worshipping anyone or anything and yet still so trouble?

Most important thing is : Happiness in the Heart

Many religions say Jesus was a great teacher or a prophet but not the son of God. What does this say? It has been written over and over that Jesus' followers believed he was Gods son. AND he was to be worshipped as God. Christians believe he was 100% man AND 100% God.
He said, "the father and I are one" John 10:30

"that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me". John 17:21

10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 11 He is "'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone.' 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Act 4
So my question to you, was Jesus a mere man? Was Jesus a liar, insane or who he said he was? One must choose.

the key word here is 'worship' Worship involves recognizing something that is greater than you, and giving it supreme honor and praise. Jesus is more than just a man. He is God. No...if ytou just look at JEsus as a man and only a man... it is not worship. It may be respect but it is not worship. In order to truly worship, you need to see Jesus as greater than man, greater than yourself, greater than what you could ever be all by yourself. It is realizing that He came to do something for you that you could not do for yourself. Worship is something you to for a god...not a man.

To worship something or someone is to recognize it as your source and as being superior to yourself; the lesser always worships the greater. To acknowledge Jesus as he presented himself (as fully man and fully God) is to worship his deity and to worship his Father (God). Jesus said, "He who accepts me accepts my Father also." If you only recognize his humanity, then it isn't truly worship as he defined it. Wouldn't it be strange to claim to worship someone but at the same time to dismiss what they say about themself? That is what supposedly draws us to them in the first place!

And since Jesus is "the Christ" (or messiah), to truly worship him and accept his teachings is what it means to be a Christian, or follower of Christ. There are many in different religions who claim to worship Jesus, but they do so while violating his teachings and putting other deities and personalities along side of Him as being of equal value, something he explicitly taught not to be done.

Jesus made a lot of claims about Himself, His purpose, and His understanding about how things work. He Himself said that we cannot pick and choose which teachings of His to embrace or not to embrace; it is a package deal. To get any benefit at all out of it, we must make a decision to do it his way or, like the many other religions do, borrow parts and add our own beliefs inside. But the end results will always be something other than what Jesus stood for or the benefits that he promised.

No because Jesus is fully human and fully God...and I don't think I would put Ghandi on the same level as Christ...

Well, you can follow a person's high ideals, without worshipping them.

What is it that you don't understand about "worship".

Do not make an IDOL out of anyone or anything.

There is ONE God, Who has revealed Himself as three "persons", Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

"Thou shalt worship the Lord Thy God and Him only shalt thou serve".
