As someone who once denied that there was a god ro afterlife, I was floored after answering a question addressed to "ex-atheists." Every other answer was from atheists saying that there was no such thing as an ex-atheist, it wasn't allowed. So, apparently you're not allowed to change your mind and once you do, your previous title is stripped away.

Christ found me, and my life has never been the same. That doesn't change what I used to believe.

I don't get this. Can someone explain? And they call theists closed minded.

To those thinking I'm just "claiming to be an ex-atheist" to "further my own agenda," why would I bother on a forum with very few people where questions only get noticed for about ten minutes?

I'd have to see the question and answer to say for sure, but either you misunderstood or the person was talking nonsense.

Of COURSE you can change your mind. Atheism is not a religion - there are no rules to follow. No one from the "Church of Latter Day Atheists" is going to come after you if you stop attending non-services.

Some atheists are open minded and searching for answers. Some are as close-minded as the most rigid fundie that they disparage. The same for believers.

On this site, there are non-oppressive believers and non-oppressive atheists. There are also some very agressively oppressive believers and atheists. In fact, some of the comments I've gotten from a "FEW" of the oppressive atheists, were such that we should all pray they never have any power, for the dark ages will pail compared to their implementation of their reality.

Bottom-line, ther origins of the universe and the origins of life are two great mysteries. One can believe in an unlikely materialistic universe, or believe in a created and purposeful universe.

We should debate why we believe or do not believe, and not disparage the belief.

I just wanna say don't let them confuse you! If you are saved that is all you need to know. If they say there is no thing as an ex atheist just tell them fine...I'm just a believer! I am so excited for you! I get like that when someone sees truth! Anyway, please don't give what they say a second thought! I tell my husband, bibleninja on here, that I feel the only reasons atheist come on this board is because they either want to sway us away from Christ (which can only be Satan getting to us through them) or they are curious and want to see what we are all about (which comes from God opening their hearts)

God Bless, and we will be praying for you God to give you strength.

sorry this is SteelDove, I forgot that my husband was still logged in..LOL, again, sorry

hmmm... weird, can you post the question? I would like to answer fully.
Perhaps it stems from the ultimate sin. Once you turn God from your heart He can never return. I think it's called rebuking the Holy Spirit. I think, then Satan enters and the rest is history. But you would have to believe in God and Satan for this. An Athiest believes in neither, so is my understanding. I would guess, these certain athiests that answered the question were misinformed and maybe close minded. But I know all aren't and furthur more...your last statement was a little harsh.... I know sometimes people on y!answers can make us all angry at one point or another. I am guilty of it myself. Please remember we are all human no matter what walks of life and we all have feelings. God Bless! Peace be with you (John 14:27)

Ex-atheist, ex-devoted evolutionist, and ex-Christian hater here, now proudly a born-again Christian.

To say there aren't more of us, or to say that being an ex-atheist is impossible is nonsense.

God bless all of us who have seen the truth, and were taken from the self-apotheosis dogma of atheism.

I think the athiests must be afraid that what they have chosen to believe might be really wrong if a former member would change and suddenly choose to believe in God. And it that was the case, then their whole belief system is in jeapardy. They might have to answer to the God they don't belive exists... Well, if there was a measure of doubt in their minds at all, then they are not really athiests then but agnostics...

I'm an ex-Catholic, but people say I never had faith to begin with. It's the same deal for ex-atheists.

Those atheists sound like jerks. No one I've met has suggested that one cannot be an ex-atheist.

I believe that there are former atheists, but that there are very few of them. You are the only one that I've come across on these boards, and I wonder if you really were an atheist.
