I am a picture framer. I have worked for two michigan companies. When you are framing a picture you should always do two things when picking frames. 1. Always frame the picture to compliment the picture - not the room. That way if you change your decor your investment is safe. 2. Always keep the frames simular - if you choose black stay with black wood and metal, if you choose a light wood tone, keep with it even if the styles change.

When it comes to framing art, try to go with a complimentary frame style with what is going on in the room. I have plenty of black, silver, glass, wood of many shades and styles in each room in my house.

I tend to find a color in the room, be it a pillow, a color on the bed, wood finish of a piece of furniture, etc... And try to go with that. Believe it or not, you can find just as good a frame at Wal Mart or even better, at Target as you would at a more hoity toity art store.

By picture which doesn't need frame - it's very popular now.. With painted "bold" sides..
