I wondre this every time I see it too. I've told my husband that if my son eer tries that style, then that is the day he starts wearing suspenders!

I hope it ends soon. It's against school policy for them to dress like that here, however, it's never enforced. Just stand outside the high school and you see half the boys holding their pants up with one hand while their butts hang out the back. It's ridiculous. Don't the realize how bad it looks?? It's not even fashion.

Oh and just a note, when my hubby was in Iraq, he was reading and issue of "GQ". They always have this fashion section in there. He told me that the issue he read had a story on the fashion of the boxers hanging out of the pants. It actually started in PRISON. The prisoners pants would fall down when their belts were taken away. It exposed their underwear and they'd have to hold them up by the waist, usually one handed.

Now, why would you want to dress like a criminal for any reason??

Pretty sure hip hop music and video's had a lot to do with it.
Boy - I hope it ends soon.
Only good thing is when my son gained some weight, I refused to buy him new jeans - so now they don't bag as much.

Yea, they can't run, walk or do anything but grab there pants!

Mom's taxi, went out of service, when lots of complaining that "I can't walk" was said one to many times.

I hate to think there is more then a few years left in this.

Oh I know!!! It drives me crazy, too! I worked in my church's after school program several years ago and it was amazing how many kids, even kindergarten age, wore their pants like that. We told the parents to either send them in a belt or we would provide one. My husband I worked in the program together and he ended up buying some rope and if the kids' pants were sagging, they went home with a rope belt. I think we sent almost every kid home with a rope belt before the parents realized we were serious and started to take care of the belt situation at home. Maybe we should all carry rope with us and pass it out to those who need it for their pants. I'm sick and tired of seeing underpants!!!!!

Never! It was started in jail. I think if they know that it mean, advertisment in jail for homosexual they would stop. I work in a school and with the large pants and the 3 x my size shirt. No wonder some of these kids can run. It seem like it should slow them down.

I think it started sometime in the late 70s, maybe early 80s...and I don't think it will ever end. Sometimes I see a guy drooping his pants and they are nearly to his knees lol I wonder how they keep them up! lol

If you take a look at my ex, apparently that trend is still running strong in his world. I know he knows how to use a belt, he's just too lazy to I'm guessing.

When parents put a stop to the glorification of the whole "gangsta" image/lifestyle in their homes (primarily through mass media) and start insisting that their kids begin dressing in a respectable manner. Parents are responsible for the atmosphere in which their kids are raised.
