Do you want it messy or did you want to style the messy hair away? I'm a bit confused...
For a messy look put a nickle size amount of gel in your hands and rub your hands together, then rub your hands in different directions on your head. Finish off with a little hairspray for an even better hold.
For a not messy look, all I can say is comb it...if you have straight hair though.

If your hair is unruly, thick and unmanageable, you may find that keeping it shorter will help it stay well groomed longer. Have your barber give you a style that you can handle yourself, that looks neat, and is still stylish. In between barber visits, don't be hesitant to use hairspray with extra hold. You'd be amazed at how it helps keep your hair looking nice, even in strong winds.

Don't use a gel or hairspray that gets hard. Use a cream or wax that is moveable. Try American Crew Forming cream. It's a professional line of hair products for men

dont wash your hair for a few days. the more oily the hair is, the more it is easier to make your desired styles to your hair.
or if you want to wash your hair, after drying your hair,
apply oil to your hair
or
use Loreal Out-Of-Bed Hair Gel/Wax, it helps!
