Yes it is very unhealthy to chew tablets, as they should be swallowed and allowed to dissolve in your stomach. You may end up with mouth problems like month ulcers and loads of different irritations, which can be very uncomfortable. Best to swallow them unless otherwise stated.

Yes. Majority of pills have a coating on them to slow release the medication over time. The coating will take time to break down in your system. Pills such as aspirin may be chewed. But the release of a large amount of madication may be adversive to your immune system. If you have trouble swallowing entire pills, you may crush the pills and swallow them with a thick sugar coated substance: apple sauce, syrup, ice cream, etc.

Yes!! Some pills are safe guarded with a coating to protect the stomach lining because some pill ingredients can cause ulcers or desolve to quickly, which would go against the time release factors needed for some pills.

I do not know about that specific drug, but I know some are harmful to the enamel on your teeth and can eat it away, causing cavities, etc. I know in hospitals, if someone cannot swallow a pill, they often mash it up in applesauce so it becomes easier to swallow, so I doubt the effect of the drug would change. The ony thing I would worry about would be the effect on my teeth.

If the drug is sugar coated then it's best swallowed whole because if it's powdered then it can cause heart burn & sickness. If it is just powdered & compressed then it's fine to chew before swallowing.
But it's perfectly safe to chew any pills before swallowing although you may not get the full dose.

If the bill comes in a capsule that would destroy its value since the capsule is supposed to dissolve in a certain part of your digestive system, not in your mouth. Same for time release medicine which need to stay intact to slowly give off medicine. breaking it open with your teeth and squishing the little coated blobs in it would ruin them.

Anything else would not be bad but is not as pleasant as just swallowng it and avoiding its taste.

Trazadone is an antidepressant. I'd read the bottle. Some medications are long acting. They don't break up immediately in your body. Be safe.
