grmilet - you don't know me. I am well-mannered and have common courtesy. I have noticed that most American women lack these traits, especially where I live.

How many American women have you actually met. There are lots of them here. That's like saying every Muslim is a terrorist, or every Italian is in the Mafia.

I don't know where you live, but I have found that most people are pretty much mean and rude. Both men and women are guilty of this. I don't have the answer for you as I am still trying to find it out myself. I can't understand what would make people treat other people so rudely. Of course, I have been to other countries and people are pretty much the same there too. There are alot of nice people and alot of rude people. Guess that goes with the good and evil thing. So sorry.

North American culture in general is rude, and it's not just women! People today do not feel guided by proper etiquette, and have thrown good manners out the window. It's a very sad state of affairs, I know.

I am with you, about the same answer. Do with all respect,it goes both ways. You treat others,as you would like to be treated. There are some people that are brought up, to be very polite, and some are not.I do belive, that it is a way our parents brought us up. I was brought up,to open the door, for a lady,If I took a date out and he didn't open the door for me,that would be the last date,OK.I sorry dear, there are still people who still do as I do,but I'm not a people pleaser, and never will be. Yes people are rude, and when, you open a door, and they don't say thank you, just say, your welcome, but make it loud, your welcome.I will guarantee, they will look at you, like your crazy.

"Most" American women aren't any one thing except women. There are over 300 million people in america from many different racial, ethnic and social backgrounds. Trying to make generalizations like the one in your question is just pointless.

I think a more useful question would be "why are you so sensitive" or better yet "why do you assume all american women should be nice to you"?

First, thank you for saying "MOST" American women. It's still a broad generalization but not a fatal one.

In any event, I think that the reason American women, just like American men, might seem rude, is a) some have a sense of entitlement that makes them think they are God's gift b) their crazy lives make us stressed out and frazzled and we might come across as rude because we've learned not to stop and make time for the niceties.

You may want to consider how many people are in that country versus how many you've actually met. You shouldn't make generalizations. Many of the americans on this site are profoundly stupid. But I'm not stupid enough to think that they represent the whole country. At least I hope not. Also think about this. I've had guys hit on me and I've told them several times I'm not interested but they just keep bugging me until I basically have to yell at them to F-off. Then the guy finally goes away muttering about what a b itch I am. If he had just taken no for an answer the first or second time I politely said it I wouldn't have had to yell at him.

They arnt. You have just come across the wrong women. Im one of the nice ones. I know exactly what youre saying, but in different chat rooms, Ive met some pretty rude Australians, and some pretty rude UK women. BUT, Im not gonna stereotype all of them, just cuz of a few Ive met. That would be wrong.

Some ppl are rude and some are nice. Sorry youve had this experience. Im an American and it embarrasses me that these women you speak of... have acted that way.

i experienced the same thing! from afro-american women to white ones, have a extremely competitive look/glance, makes me ashamed to be a girl thinking of that experience (i was 16 ) i met super nice people but i pity some women that are not happy wih themselves, and that was also my perspective at 16

Sorry you think that. Perhaps you just haven't met the right American women? Or maybe the ones you have met were just having a bad day?
