I'd probably say, "Joe, I'm pregnant with your child. I've decided to keep the baby."
Unless you have other expectations of him (child support, parental involvement, future plans), that's where I'd leave it for now. A lot really depends on how you get along, where you left things and the reason for the break-up.

you either tell him, or you could wait and then file papers to get child support, but that would probably create more problems than answers....just get it out of the way and say it....but it might not be a good idea to do it face to face unless you got someone with you that can handle the possibility of a violent reaction...some guys have the mentality of "oh she's pregnant, how about i beat the hell out of her, she'll miscarry and i'll be free again" never a good idea to do it face to face and alone...always take someone with you or use a phone

First make sure it is his baby. You don't want to end up on the Maury Povich show for the 5th time. Second call your x and tell him that you need to see him immediately. Tell him in person with a glass of champagne and watch him faint.

Come straight out and tell hime. Do not do it in anyway to trap him or use the child against him.

you know, i dont really have an answer for that, but the result of you telling him really does depend on two things: the reason for the break-up, and what type of person he is. best wishes to you.

First of all he is going to ask you are you sure it is mine that is going to be his first question. But be honest up front and tell him your pregnant and he is the father.

Just be honest with him. Be like Hey i need to know how you feel about something. or Hey i have something i need to tell you. I am going to have your baby.
He will then let you know or not. it is hard to say with men these days but at least you were honest with him
