The first time I heard of this "tradition" was in a large wedding with many bridesmaids, all wearing the same shoe style. They'd written their names on the sole so they could tell them apart in the dressing room.

I don't think it had any other significance than pure practicality, but it's amazing how things like this kindof snowball into full-fledged traditions that people think they have to follow to have a fun, successful wedding day.

I haven't heard of that one either. Before I walked down the aisle, my Dad put a penny in my shoe for good luck though.

i havent heard of that one

is it people write the bridesmaids names on their individual shoes? maybe its so people know whos shoes belong to whom on the day???

know i've got 3 bridesmaids - with size 5 and 6 shoes

Nope that's the first I've heard of that one, although I have heard of the best man writing on the soles of the groom's shoes "Help Me" so that it can be seen when the couple kneel....

I have never heard of that and have been in 4 weddings in the last 4 years and we didn't do that. I'd be curious to find out myself.
