It happens to us all and when we notice it the problem seems worse.
After the birth of my second child I had a pronounced widow's peak due to hair loss and that was quite frightening but it did all grow back again.
The solution is to tie your hair back away from your face and teach yourself not to play with it. Get some worry beads instead.

Dont worry about it!! I have long brown curly hair and when it grows too long, clumps of it comes out when I wash it and my bf goes mad coz it's everywhere!!!! I have now started to go to my hairdresser every 6-8 wks as I should and the the amount of hair that comes out is very little because I regularly get it trimmed. My hairdresser also told me it is pefectly normal to lose upto 100 strands of hair a day....I also used to work in a hairdressers but only as a junior and helping friend out.

Like I say don't worry this is normal, take care xx

Did you know that you can lose around 80 to 100 hairs per day
Have you seen them in your hairbrush? It is part of the normal hair growth cycle which determines that each hair will grow for so long (between 2 and 7 years) and then fall out. Then another will grow in its place. All the hairs on your head are at different stages in the cycle.

Im 19 and had the problem last yr, it started with when towel dryin my hair there would be a load of hairs on the towel, then brushin my hair it would fall out in big amounts. I had my hair cut short, which fortunatly suits my face, but it gradually stopped now my hair is all grown back, no-one knew wot was wrong but it has stopped. My mum went through the same when she was late 30's, she kept her hair in a long bob and it stopped falling out after about 6 months. Hope everything goes ok for you x

I once questioned hair loss with my hairdresser, and she told me that the average person loses anything upto 100 strands of hair a day. Because im blonde and wear dark clothes, they always stood out and I thought i had a problem. But hearing her say that eased my mind.

If your blood tests show up as okay, perhaps its stress related. If you are still very concerned, I would go back to your doctor and insist he/she helps you find out.

Good luck!

I agree with Melinda, this is completely normal. At least 100 hairs fall from your head each day. If you tie your hair up a lot you may notice it even more because your bobble or scrunchie or whatever you use will be keeping them in place. It just seems like a lot are falling out but they're not!

An average person looses between 100 and 150 hairs in a day.
It's natural.
Stressing will only make it worse. Now relax and don't worry about it.

The more you stress the more it'll get worse. I've heard that a brand called Nioxin shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment are very good. You can look them up on the net.

i know the feeling! try not to scratch your scalp with your hairbrush or fingernails. when you shampoo your hair gently massage your scalp with the squishy ends of your fingers to get the blood flowing around the hair follicles and encourage hair growth. eating almonds is supposed to be good for your hair too - give a go! hope this helps

Try a few sessions of Indian Head Massage. Hair loss is one of the problems it is recommended for.
