LMAO, I am glad you asked this question, as I JUST started taking it last night. All I know is it said to take 1 to 2 at bedtime, and normally I am very difficult to medicate, and so I took 2. Within 20 minutes, I felt as though I was melting through the fibers in my bed, and I had yet to do my bed time rituals. So I attempted to get up, and wouldn't have been able to had my boyfriend not been there to help me out of the bed. THEN, when I did get up, he let go, and I fell back down. I felt like I had been hit by an elephant tranqulizer dart. So, while holding on to him, I was able to do my teeth brushing and my potty trip. (Man, I must have a great boyfriend.)

I hadn't slept more than 2 to 3 hours a night for months, and it was really weighing on my body and mind. So, I slept like a baby, and for the first time ever I was asleep before my boyfriend.

All in all, on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the best, I would have to give it a 9. It definately did what it was supposed to do as far as summoning some muuuuch needed rest.

I have also read that it is used for depression, and I cannot understand how it would help that other than knocking out the person causing them to not be depressed because they are sleeping.

Hugs to you and sleep well... tonight, I will only be taking 1.

P.S. Those people saying it made them feel like a zombie the next day, I would have to say, I had NO trouble getting up this morning. Yes, I felt like I was in a cloud for a little while after getting up, but I am fine now. What a beautiful day I am having now. You don't know how badly sleep is needed until you don't have it. Then when you get it, it is the most wonderful feeling in the world.

Yes I've taken Trazadone a few times and it did NOT help me at all. It's one of the earliestantidepressant drugs to be put on the market and does suppose to help you sleep. I felt strange and wierd taking it so I stopped using both prescriptions.
For an herbal sleep remedy, try Valerian root capsules. The ones from Walmart work GREAT!!!!!
I've been taking them for 3 years and swear by them. No docs scripts either!Hope you have better luck with sleeping
Spring Valley Natural Whole Herb is the name of the Valerian Root Product found in the vitamin section of Walmart..

I hear that a lot of people do well with it for sleep and it also helps some with depression. However, I had a severe reaction, conjestion first leading to a type of psychosis - I couldn't feel my body as if it went numb. It was horrible! It took about two weeks to get like that and another week or so to clear the stuff out of my system. BUT, I am the extreme exception on having such a reaction.

I took that for years for sleep as I have insomnia. It really helped me!! It may take a little while to get used to the effects of it if you aren't used to those type of drugs, but in time you do get used to it. My body had become immune to it in time, so I had to have the dose raised. It said to take 1-2 at bedtime. I would take one, unless I had been doing that and it didn't work well, then I would take 2 for one night and I would be back on track again. But, that's just me and how my body works. Not everyone will do it this way. Once it starts to work, be sure to get to bed or you will knock out wherever you are. I learned that early on. I liked it, but had lost my job so was unable to afford it anymore so I went off of it. I had a hard time sleeping at first, but then my body got used to falling asleep without it and I do fine now. I found that if I took it too late at night, then I was groggy the next day, would sleep in quite late, etc. Try it on the weekend and see how it works for you, if it makes you groggy the next day, to figure out what time to start taking it, etc. Every one is different in how meds affect them, etc.

I have some remaining in a prescription.

I don't care much for it - unless I want to completely shut down and just zonk out. It makes me feel 'off' the next day.

It did help me for a while though for reasons I'd rather not expound upon right now.

Personally, (and meds affect everyone differently) I could not take it. It had the adverse reaction on me and I ended up staying up all night with heart palpations and sweating. But that was just me. I have heard good things about it. Try it, you'll know trust me in just one night if it works.......
Good luck

It works well, it makes you feel drowsy but not quite tired. i lay in bed and watch a movie and im asleep in about 45 minutes. you will have very wierd, detailed dreams and you will actually be able to remember them when you wake up. overall, I love it mainly because of the crazy dreams though.

I was taking it awhile back for bipolar and was really the only med to help me sleep. If you take it early enough it will help with the next day zombie feelings and if that still doesn't help think about lowering your doze. Hope this helps!

I didn't. I had weird dreams and felt really drugged the next day. And I was only taking 50mgs. Some people take 100-150mgs. I don't know how they do it.
