Snow pants are worn over the pant but generally not until 2 inches of snow is on the ground or the temperatures are below 32. If in doubt you can always pack them. Take into concideration the wind chill factor also .

Are you guys in Chicago today? Where else is it that cold or snowing?

Anyway, put them over his pants if it's really cold outside now. However, if he's jumping straight from house/car to the bus, put them in his backpack. That way he can put them on at school if the teachers take them out to play in cold or snow at sometime during the day.

I despise the cold weather. Wish I were a Florida mom...IN FLORIDA! Good luck!

Put snowpants, boots, hat, gloves, and scarf in a bag or backpack. Then put snowpants on over regular pants when heading out into snow. Then take everything off and put in bag.

I know I'm late for your urgent answer - but I know it's a pain. It's snowpants over pants. Sometimes my boy used to get too hot on the bus, but if he didn't wear them he would forget them. Always had the fear that the bus would break down and he should be wearing them. Welcome to the world of wonderful snow!

Wearing them over pants is good if it is very cold, or you think the snow pants will need to be taken off. Might be an option if it is warm inside and one needs to adjust to that. Don't want the child to become overly warm either. If it is truly snowy, thermals or sweat pants work under snow pants.

Put them on over the regular pants. The teacher will take them off in school.

you wear them over regular pants, but not all the time. just pack them in your kid's backpack and they can put the snowpants on over their regular pants before recess.

If its really bad when they are leaving for school...put the snow pants on them over regualr pants. It will keep them warm on the bus ride to school.
