I have been waiting for 1 year and 9 months for an answer on my citizenship case. The reason is pending background checks. I can not figure out how to speed my case along. I trying to figure out a way to get help.My understanding is that there's alot of people that are in the same place with Homeland Security. Has anyone had this problem or know someone who has? If so what did you do?

Sorry to her this. There are many people in similar situation, where you passed the intevriew and naturalization tests, but you still have to wait to be called for the Oath ceremony because your security clearance is not complete yet. It can be from a few months to 3-4 years...

Have you had an intevriew? Were you told that you passed?

If yes, then you can file a Mandamus suit against the government. This is the only realistic legal option you have, unless you wish to wait some longer. To do so, you shall consult a qualified immigration attorney.

I hear you. My husband's going through the process as well. Keep pestering the USCIS. Or contact a local legislator who is up for election next month.. I'm not sure if they'll be personal able to do anything about it, but at least they can take the info back to Washington and hopefully help those of us who are trying to get through the process the legal way.

I was naturalized a long time ago (like 20 years ago). There is a statutory period it takes once you apply. Plus, I'm sure today it takes even longer given all the background checks and volume.

The only thing I can suggest is to contact your congressman. I did when I applied and they got an answer fairly quickly. It didn't speed the application but at least I found out what the deal was.

Good luck!

I have no idea where you are from...but you could write to your country law enforcement depart. ask for a background check on yourself, write to ex bosses and get a reference letter on character,

Then after you get all those letters back
redo your paper work for citizenship and add those letters.
.make a copy of all of this for your records and then call a lawyer
