Maybe that's the way they unwind? I mean I know it's not very social, but maybe after work and everything else, they just like being lifted away into another universe?
Or else it's just an easier option since they don't have to plan too much what they are going to do. We've had nights where we wanted to do something, didn't know what to do, so we went to the movies.

I don't find this strange at all. I love movies! I don't go that often though. I suppose they could branch out & do something different...dinner, dancing, bowling, rock climbing, whatever. But movies are the easiest. Maybe they're afraid of conversation. You can't talk during the movie & afterward you can talk about the movie...just a thought.
But movies are awesome! Enjoy!

Perhaps they want to escape the real world for a few hours. Some might think it is the ideal date, while others want the security of a crowd around them. Who knows maybe they are tired and that allows them to rest. You just relax and enjoy both the girl and the movie.

Maybe they are only used to going to movies and need to experience other types of dates, like dinners at a nice place with candle light.

well you try to take her to different things. whenever she says that she wants to go to the movies instead just tell her you either saw them or just want to do something else.
