I know of 2 people who did this. My old boss' son that did this. He had REALLY long hair. He is glad he did it seeing it was not all cut off for nothing. When he combs his hair in the morning now, he told me he always thinks of someone who is happy now that they have some locks of hair. It was totally worth it for him.

My younger sister had REALLY thick and long hair. When my mom cut it, she donated it and my lil sis loves that her hair went to help other kids like her.

I wish you the best, worse case, you can grow it back. At least you helped put a smile (and hair) on a few kids.

I would love to be able to do this, my hair just doesn't get long enough :(

My hair was down to my waist last time I cut it off...so the 10 inches only brought it about 3 or 4 inches below my sholders....I didnt miss it at all...it was easier and quicker to style because I straiten it...and with in the next year it was already past my bra strap again and 2years later it was just as long as it was when I cut it the 1st time....and that was with getting 2 hair cuts...and they do take dyed hair...it just cannot be over processed or relaxed..

I have not done it myself, my hair is too processed to use, however I have a friend (now 22) who has done it several times. She said the feeling of blessing from knowing you've helped someone more than overcomes any feeling of loss for the long hair. She had the most awesome hair: thick, shining, perfectly straight, gorgeous shade of brown...and she looked adorable with her shorter bob; grew it out again, did it again. I worked with her about 3 years, in that time she donated twice; another friend who donated said she felt a glow for months afterwards, every time she combed her shorter hair. She also had an awesome curtain of waist-length hair... Thank you for donating yours!

My mom, her husband and myself are all going to do this. I couldn't begin to imagine anything better to do with our hair. My hair has been all lengths, cuts, styles, and colors... I wish I had known about locks of love several years ago instead of just having a foot of hair cut off and go in the trash.

My sister did, her hair went to her butt before she chopped it off to right below her shoulders. She didn't miss it and besides it will grow back.

I've always wanted to do this! but I dye my hair so i cant. (they dont take dyed hair- only natural)

(I dye my hair compulsively, its a habbit, if I could stop I would donate my hair)
