I am thinking maybe photgraphy or menhdi patterns (thats henna) or maybe something completely different?

I would say 'selling Real Estate'. That's a very lucrative short course.

How about take a Chinese cooking course or a Chinese language course - really get close to a different culture

i would suggest phlebotomy, unless you are too afraid of needle's? I'm taking it now and it is only a 12 week course, and i'm lovin it!
