Beak grinding is the sign of a healthy satisfied and content fabric poultry. be satisfied he's doing it! you will hear it fairly whilst he's slumbering or superb after bedtime, like a cat purring superb after it gets tender. undecided how beak grinding prevents the beak from overgrowing however because of fact it is not possibly working that lots.

Birds beaks constantly grow...much like your fingernails. They have to grind them down so they can continue to eat.

to make their beaks sharper, if you have a cockateil and don't have something for them to grind their beak on, you need to get something because their beak needs to be sharp to crack open seeds for food.

They need a cuttle bone. A hard surface source to sharpen their beak...also a source of calcium.

It is their way of keeping it trim. Their beaks constantly grow and they can over grow and cause feeding problems. It is always good to get a cuttle bone or sand stone for them.
