I had an 80's something Rabbit (Piece O Shiznit), then they became Golf's, and now they are Rabbits again! But I think in Europe they were always Golfs.

The new name for the Golf Is Rabbit!

The newest version was re-badged to show its a new car but the funny part of the re-naming back to Rabbit is the buyers for the car mow were not even born when the Rabbit was here before making it a kind of joke, Still, its a good car!

It's the same car. For marketing reasons when the car was brought to the US in the 70's it was called a Rabbit here. They decided to call it a Rabbit again this year. It's still a Golf in Europe.

I think it is a 70's/80's revival thing. Plus, marketing a new product with vintage appeal has worked well for VW. Just look at the Beetle. They brought the Beetle back (like the Rabbit) and sold a lot of cars that are lower cost to produce.

VW rabbits have been around much longer than the golf, the golf is still around, they are just making new editions of the rabbit that look very similar.

The "new" rabbit has one thing all the rest of previous rabbits did not have: MADE IN GERMANY...

Dan O Neil's(LA Times) of the new rabbit was glowing, and said the car very tight/solid(and this guy rips into cars like no tomorrow)

It's a good choice...
