Each state, etc has different variations on what Class 1 Misd's are.

In NY you have class A & B Misd
In NC you have 1,2,3 MISD

Could you edit your question and tell us some more background information so others and myself can try to assist?

In general, a misdemeanor is a crime that can carry a sentence of up to one year in jail---but not more than a year. A felony, on the other hand, is a crime that can carry a sentence longer than a year. (Note: it's not relevant how much time a person is actually sentenced to or ultimatelty serves. The difference between a misdemeanor and a felony just means that under the law you could be sentenced for less than or more than a year for particular crime.) With that being said, within these two categories, states further classify crimes based on their severity. You can have a class two misdemeanor, for example. Your "Class 1 Misdemeanor SS" is one such classification under your state laws. To know the nature of this crime and the penalty it carries, I'd have to know what state you are in.

In general, a Misdemeanor, regardless of "class" or type, is an offense punishable by 1 year or less in jail. A Felony is an offense punishable by a year or more in prison.

Note the difference - Jail and prison and the one year cut off.

There are exceptions and special circumstances, and we haven't even explored the various probation / parole / fines and other sentencing quirks that can come about.
