This may sound strange but....you'll only be able to treat the symptoms so try this. A rhinovirus (what makes your nose run during a cold) can not survive at higher temperatures than is ambient in your body, (i.e. 98.6*). If you can raise the temperature artificially (like your body does when it runs a fever to kill these viruses) you can get over the drippy nose earlier.
Some methods I've used with some success is first, to use cotton balls to plug my nostrils so I'm not breathing fresh air in my nose and cultivating more virus. With no air going thru your sinuses, the temp in the sinuses goes up. You'll look goofy with two wads of cotton sticking out your nose, but...at least you won't be constantly blowing your nose. Just swap out the cotton balls whenever they get soaked with nasal drips.
The second method that seems to help is to use a hair-dryer/blower and aim it up your nose. Breathe this extra hot air for about 10 minutes at a time to try to kill the rhinovirus.
You can also sit with your head over a steaming pot of hot water infused with chamomille tealeaves to clear your head, great facial at the same time because it opens the pores of your face. Drape a towel over your head to contain the steam.
BTW, a hair dryer blowing into your ear is a proven way to alleviate an earache.
Untreated cold symptoms usually goes away in three to five days, treated ones go away in two or three.
Good luck, good health.

Do any or several of the following: Take a pinch of salt. Put a few drops of mustard oil in it and blend it till the oil loses its fluidity. Dab this mixture on the nostrils, neck and chest. It will tingle a bit, but the relief will be fast. Mix some jaggery* and black pepper together. Boil this in water. Sip this quickly when hot as you do with tea. Squeeze the juice of two lemons in a glassful of water. Put sugar to sweeten the mixture. This must be taken at bedtime to seek relief from the nasal catarrh. One more remedy is to blend nutmeg and opium with cow's milk into a paste. This is to be applied on the nose and the forehead while going to bed. Mixing black pepper, cinnamon, cardamom and the seeds of the Nigella sativa , and using it as a snuff helps in opening severely congested nasal passages. Before going to bed, apply eucalyptus oil on the forehead, chest and the nostrils in the night. Then wrap yourself in a warm blanket and go to sleep. You will sweat profusely in the night, but let that happen. In the morning, the common cold will disappear, and so will any fever if present. *Jaggery (Panela) is a "natural" sweetener made by the concentration of sugarcane juice WITHOUT the use of any chemicals / synthetic additives or preservatives. It contains an enormous wealth of minerals / protein / vitamins.

Yarrow. Cut up a couple of leaves finely and steep in boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes and drink it. It won't dry up your runny nose but it will bring your fever down and take away that awful sick feeling, for up to 14 hours.
For a runny nose, get a folded hanky and soak in some eucalyptus oil, then hold it over your nose and breathe through it. The first few breaths will be difficult and you'll have to take it away, but keep it up and try to keep doing it as long as poss, soon your nose will dry up.

Drink plenty of fluids, keep warm and take vitamin C and zinc. Make sure you get in lots of brothy soups (nothing creamy) and take 2 tylenol to relieve a fever if you have it.
Nyquil and Dayquil are helpful for temporary relief.
Hope you feel better soon!

Zicam really helps with the duration of the cold. Use Vicks Vapor rub for congestion and cough. REALLY works. I hate the greasiness of it, but now they have a cream so it's not greasy. Hope you feel better....
