Okay. does anybody actually have a good butter pecan recipe that they have actually made a few times? I am looking for a recipe that has thick, chewy, and delicate cookies that are not flat, and don't spread like wild fire in the oven. I want to actually taste the pecan flavor and do not want it masked with flour. Will a basic chocolate chip recipe work, with replacing chips for pecans?

BUTTER PECAN BARS

1 stick of butter
1 box butter pecan cake mix
3 eggs
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 box powdered sugar
1 c. chopped pecans

Melt 1 stick of butter in 9 x 13 inch pan. Mix butter pecan cake mix with 1 egg and put in pan. This will make the crust. Mix cream cheese, 2 eggs and powdered sugar and spread on top of crust layers. Sprinkle with pecans and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Butter Pecan Cookies
"These cookies are very moist...my husband's favorite."
Original recipe yield: 4 dozen

INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups pecan halves
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar and egg. Mix until well blended.
Slowly add flour and salt and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Roll one inch pieces of dough into balls and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheets. Flatten balls with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Press a pecan into top of dough.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes until lightly colored.

You could always use pecan pieces, and stir them in - but my family prefers the halve placed on top.
