That according to Yahoo! News some days ago. Seems like a lie to me, since earlier posts tell me the French suck!

I have heard some rubbish in my time on the planet but that beats it all. In all countries there are good and bad people....even France. But 20% of Brits want to be French ?
Pull the other one!!!! Good job I don't believe everything I read, you shouldn't either. MYOWNPRIV' said it was a french wine magazine that printed the story!!!!! Possibly 20% of Brits have a Galic gargle now and again, but what self respecting Brit would stoop so low as wanting to be FROGGY?

Were the British people they asked currently holidaying in France??
I wouldn't want to be French, I'm quite happy being a Brit. Though I do love the French for their bread!

Despite my name I am a Brit and I really wish I was french! I truly truly do! I love the way thay they have of looking down their gallic noses at anyone NOT french - even a road sweeper will look at you in disgust if you ask something without a perfect accent/ grasp of the language. They also have less fat people, better schooling, better food, better wine, better cities and better films. I even believe that Zidane was a better footballer than Beckham although of course I may be wrong (said with a shrug and a curl of the lip)

I wouldn't mind being french. Their food is great. Mmm. Moules Marinier' with french stick, the fantastic cheeses, the pates'. And the markets are fabulous. They really know how to display their food. Guess it's a sense of pride that may be a little missing over here.

I don't believe that. I love France and have many French friends, but I am happy and proud to be British. Of all the British people I know who like France, I am sure that not one would wish to be French.

Well everytime I go to France, I get so annoyed with the French attitudes that I am happy to get back to GB. That has happened EACH time I went to France. They are the worlds rudest nation in my opinion! I would not want to be a French national. NO WAY!
They can keep their Citroens and Peugeots as well!

1 in 5 brits wish to live in France. There's a difference.

I admire the French though - if they feel that their way of life is being threatened, or simply if they don't like something (like muslim veils) the make sure everyone knows it and they don't rest until it's resolved to their satisfaction.
