It's not a long book. Most folks can read it in 2-3 hours if they have any reading speed at all.

However, it's a book one can consider for a lifetime! Though the story of animals, it's an intriguing study of society and socialism. I strongly recommend it to young and old alike.

Also read "1984", another of George Orwell's classics. even more to think about and enough for a lifetime as well.

While you're at it, read "Atlas Shrugged", "Anthem", and "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand. Anthem is fairly short, but all three are excellent novels.

A few hours to read it, the rest of my life to meditate on the implications. My favorite was the horse; he was sooo faithful and hard-working, and yet he went off to the knackers when it was convenient to be rid of him. I know JUST how that feels! A year ago, I got laid off my very good job, which I had held for 16 years, and where it was acknowledged I was quite a good work horse.
