Im a lefty and use them with my left hand all the time, just turn them upside down.

If you use the same action of your fingers with youor left hand as you do with your right, it will cause the blades of the scissors to pull apart in your left hand instead of coming together when you use your right hand. This means you open the gap between the blades of the scissors and you don't get the shearing action.

Your question is well appreciated as I am left hander myself and cant use the commonly availabe scissors. The worst would be the tailoring scissors.
