I have fibromyalgia, and have for over 6 yrs. Believe me it is more than unexplained muscle pain. It has a variety of symptoms, most people experience much pain, severe fatigue, often including irritable bowel syndrome, and many have trouble concentrating and remembering things.

Treatment includes treating the symptoms. A good, restful sleep is important and good rest helps alleviate other symptoms including the pain. Unfortunately, one main symptom of fibromyalgia is that your body does not enter that good, restful sleep where your body can feel rested.

If drinking wine is the only solution that her Dr. gives, then she needs to find another Dr., but I imagine a glass of wine in the evening might help her to get a good rest. Other things that help me are chiropractic adjustments, positioning myself to help pain, and when it is cold I sleep on a heated mattress pad because I always hurt more when I am at all cold.

Tell her to go to a different doctor. As far as I know Fibromyaligia is a unexplained muscle pain. There is no medical proof. Some researchers believe that fibromyalgia is actually a conversion disorder which is when a person feels pain but their is no medical proof. Conversion disorder is a transfer of a psychological problem into the physical body.

When the wine doesn't work I wonder what is next, pain medicine? Sounds like to me that she will be heading down the road of addictions.

Perhaps she could talk to a chiropractor. I know a woman who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and the chriopractor pushes on pressure points which relieves the pain. Her husband also does this for her. She is on no meds and doesn't drink at all.

As far as her drinking wine if it is just one glass a day, then it can be good for her. If she has a drinking problem then she should stay away from it.

If it were me I would see another doctor and see what they have to say. Although we don't think doctors can make mistakes were wrong in that thinking, they are human and mistakes will be made sometimes.

I'll never forget when a nurse came in with what she thought was my record and was telling me something horrible. I knew she was wrong and asked if she had the right paper work. Come to find out it was a girl with my first name, different last name.

I took my son to the hospital and he was diagnosed with something that didn't need any medicine. I was not happy with that and took him the next day to the doctors. He had strept throat. That is something that needs medicine. Strept throat untreated turns into scarlet fever which a person can die from.

I told you this to show you that doctors and nurses do make mistakes. Not all and not all the time, but it happens.

Red wine contains bioflavonoids, these are a anti-inflammatory agent and a anti-oxidant that can stop the pain of fibromyalgia and the degeneration process, look up the "French Paradox" it will explain this. Now there is a better way than drinking red wine, it is called Grape seed extract, same bioflavonoids in a higher concentration with no alcohol. There is also a patented version of this that is six times more potent than any store brand of GSE. This is a exclusive product to one company that would be advertisement to list here.

Fibromyalgia is a horrible thing to have. It makes all your muscles ache and your skin very sensitive to touch. I have never heard of drinking wine for it but I have two friends who take a pain killer called Pamalor for it. I think you should get a second opinion

the condition is complex and poorly understood and treated by most docs. Wine in moderation is not a bad thing for many conditions, I imagine that if shes having trouble sleeping a glass at night wouldnt hurt...doesnt need to be doing a bottle a day though.

This diagnosis is new to the medical realm and falls into a group including chronic fatigue syndrome, and a few other vague syndromes. Look it up on a search engine, but I do not think you will be much enlightened.

Lots of protein. My sister has it and this is what she does. She says it helps her.But as for the wine I guess it would be to help her body relax.Just be sure not to mix the wine with any meds.
