Sun screen prevents long term damage. Can moisterizer do something similar? Or is it just a temporary cover-up?

No, moisturizers like you say, it just a temporary cover-up. Sunblock actually blocks the harmful uv rays that cause skin damage. Moisturizer won't do this and actually is not very beneficial to the skin, as it blocks pores and slows down skin renewal. HTH : )

Moisturizer does just that. It moisturizes. It is not a cover-up. Make-up is a cover-up.
But there are creams on the market that keep lines and wrinkles and dry skin at bay. Unfortunately, they are expensive and as soon as you stop using them, everything reverts back to the way it was. Sun screen does help, but some of the aging process is genetic. And we all need sunlight, so don't avoid it.

Sunscreen is your best weapon. Moisterizer only keeps moisture inside your skin. You really need some type of alpha hydroxy acid or salicilic acid in which you use twice a day. But be certian to use sunscreen b/c the acids make your skin more photosensitive. The chemical peel systems & microdermabrasion systems are also small miracle workers.
