length of time????

I have read about people who stopped eating but exercised making them lose their weight and they kept it off when they started eating again by eating the right foods, only gradually eating more and continuing with the exercising so the body adapts to the new lifestyle without putting on weight.

I have also heard about the other side to it where people have lost the weight but then put it back on plus more when they started eating again but can't this be avoided by you only eating a small amount of calories when you start eating again (such as 200-400) for a few weeks then increase again when your body get used to that whilst continuing with the exercises???

I know that by doing this you can lose muscle but would you still lose muscle if you did certain exercises which concentrate on strengthening muscles as well as other exercises like jogging?????

How much weight can be lost in a certain amount of time (each week or month)???

This is the WRONG way to loose weight. This is very harmful to the body and is a lazy way to try to form good habits. I did this in high school to make weight for the wrestling team. I would eat fatty foods to gain weight. Then I would stop eating for about 3 days and run and box as much as I could. Then I would drop enough weight to be the top in my weight class. For example I would gain 15lbs so I would weigh 200lbs, then I would not eat and exercise so I dropped 10lbs so I would weigh exactly 190lbs. the cut off weight for my class. The best way to loose weight REGARDLESS of what you eat is to get at least an hour of vigorous cardio each day. Something like running/jogging for an hour. Or, my favorite, boxing. Just by boxing for an hour each day I can maintain my BMI (body mass index) to exactly what I want. I weighed 250lbs when I was a freshman in college. Then I boxed every day for an hour. Now (sophomore in college) I weigh 185lbs. Good Luck and keep up the good work, its not easy!

This is a very unhealthy way to try to lose weight...metabolism is slowed down, electrolyte imbalances and vitamin deficiencies, which you get from foods.... will cause you bigger problems than you can imagine. If you eat 3 balanced meals with fruit snacks between the meals, along with some moderate exercise...you will lose weight. It will be slow, about 2 lbs a week, but you'll keep it off and not risking your health or maybe your life. Good luck.

It is important to note that People gain weight when the calories obtained through consumption, digestion, assimilation and metabolism of food nutients is geater than that used by the body. If somebody fails to consume enough nutrients needed by the body then a process called mobilisation of nutrienbts from body reserves occurs, which starts with fat reserves, then goes to muscles..... The rate at which different individuals perform these fonctions vary a lot and depends on genetic predisposition, so no matter from which angle you want to take it, you will not loose the same weight or gain the same weight like somebody following the same regime. Knowing this, the key to sustainable and healthy weight loss is by consuming less than what your body needs for maintenance pushing it to obtain the rest from its reserves. With gradual loss of weight, reduce the quantity consumed as maintenance needs will reduce with weight. This should be combined with a pogressive increase intensity of exercise which increases the body's burning of calories. Be patient as this is the best way to loose wieght and come out of it like a new man as it will give you enough time to adapt and change those habits that led to weight gain. Do not starve your body cos this may cause mal fonctioning of your intestines and other complications. Remember in life patience and determination gives to the best price.

Definitely dont stop eating babe, i was anorexic from the age of 15 for about two years. Am now in recovery but my body was so starved, it started feeding off my muscles. In very bad cases, it can lead to the muscles around the heart being affected. I now eat regular small meals a day and exercise in moderation. I have started my own eating disorder support site if you ever want any more info, just let me know.

If you stop eating, that's called anorexia and ultimately can kill you if you don't "feed" the muscles and body with nutrients. And if you don't eating, when you do start again, your body has gone without for so long that it will in fact make it harder to turn the foods into "good sugars". Keep eating, but go to dietician for a diet that is right for you and then exercise also. You'll lose fat a lot faster and it's safer.

your body needs food to function. You should change your eating habits instead of not eating. If you don't consume enough calories you will become weak and not have any benefits from the exercises. Check with a dietitian and see what a good meal plan would be for you.

Stopping eating isn't good for you. It slows down your metabolism and so when you do start eating again you burn it off slower. Believe it or not it's actually better for you to eat six small, healthy meals a day like pasta and rice.
