How do we as parents and students protect ourselves against the growing violence in the school system?

ARM YOUR CHILDREN WITH THE TRUTH, TEACH THEM TO KEEP THEMSELVES SAFE, GO OVER HORRIBLE SCERNERIO'S AND ASK THEM WHAT THEY WOULD DO!! TELL THEM THAT TELLING IS O.K. IF YOU SEE OR HEAR SOMETHING, DON'T BE AFRAID TO TELL!!!! EXPLAIN TO THEM THAT TODAY, TELLING IS AN HONORABLE THING TO DO. LIVES, INCLUDING THEIRS, AND THEIR FRIENDS CAN BE SAVED!! OUR KIDS ARE THE ONES IN THOSE BUILDINGS, THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO KEEP THEMSELVES AND OTHERS SAFE. THE KIDS USUALLY KNOW LONG BEFORE LAW ENFORCEMENT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE THE HALLS OF THEIR SCHOOLS!!! TALK TO YOUR KIDS, THEY WILL HEAR YOU, EVEN IF THEY ACT AS IF THEY DON'T!! ARM THEM WITH WAYS TO KEEP THEMSELVES SAFE!! LISTEN ALSO, YOU'LL BE SURPRISED WHAT INFO YOU CAN PICK UP BY JUST LISTENING!! THE KIDS ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN TRULY KEEP THEMSELVES SAFE, WE AS PARENTS MUST TEACH THEM HOW!!

The only way to protect your children 100% is to keep them locked in the house and sit with a gun 24/7 to make sure no one breaks in and harm them.Reality you just cant do that nor can you keep them safe at all times.Violenece is all over and knows no age.Its a sad world we all live in.

DAMN!!!! Good question!!! My children are in grades 9 and 11. I think the best thing we can do is be relaxed and show them we are relaxed. Then go behind their backs and check out the schools security and pray that our children are safe. We CAN NOT allow our children to see that we are nervous about them attending school or this will interfere in their academic performance. Just remember after normal school we have to worry about college and university. OH YA and then our grandchildren in school!! Damn viscous cycle! KEEP CALM!!

u cant unless u homeschool them and keep them locked up forever
even in private schools its there
heck its everywhere
u cant avoid it no one can
jus let them deal with it
if it gets too bad have a talk with em
set limits
but not too much then they will hate u
but let them try things out

even if you try to proctect your children how about if something happends but not in school,, it dont have to be only in school that soemthing happends,,, it could be eveywhere..
