Bravo to you. People think just because we're christians, we can't laugh, play around, joke. They think we must at all times be on our knees with our hands in the praying position. I can understand why the world watches us and keeps the bar held high for us. And I know that if we as christians make one single mistake then we're automatically hypocrites. But remember what Jesus said: we will be persecuted. And that's okay. I'd rather be persecuted by the world than persecuted by Jesus.

86% of America WHAT? Believes in god? Claims they're Christian? I don't know what the question is here. Additionally, where you got your data is important. I mean, if the local 'First Church of Christ" did research and came up with the figure that "86% of all Americans wish they could be like us" then it wouldn't mean much, would it? Research would have to be gathered by a non-involved, neutral party in order to be valid.
People say bad thing about members of ALL religions. That's in part because organized religion is a disaster, creating an "us vs. them" mentality and lending to hate crimes, bigotry, and even wars.
If people are mean to you just because you're Christian, then they are idiots and you shouldn't bother with them. You have a right to believe whatever you want to. I suppose people say a lot of cruel things on this site. It's probably because they are either TRYING to be trouble makers, or becaue they can hide behind their computers and say any ignorant thing they want. In case you hadn't noticed, this isn't REALLY the place for an intelligent, meaningful conversation.

I'd just keep this in mind: For myself, as well as others on here I'm sure, this site is really my only daily contact with Christians. I follow an odd path, and most of my close friends follow either something similar or subscribe to Eastern religions; I don't know about the people I work with, but they're the "not too interested about religion" types. Now, I'm not saying I've never had contact with Christians, or that all the ones I've met are bad (in fact, it's mostly the opposite), but I'd just remember that for some people who like to get on and discuss ideas, Christianity as represented here may be one of the few places they encounter it.

You are doing the best you can, dont worry what others might think of you. All that really matters is what God and Christ know about you..They judge your heart. There are good and not so good "Christians" and anyone can put a label on themselves, but God sees the inner being, so take the negativity you see in YA. lightly, and keep doing as you're doing. It's not up to other "Christians" to judge anyone; that is NOT being a Christian!

86% of America is Christian? Cool, that's higher than I imagined. Thank you, genuinely, for that statistic. As for people saying bad things about Christians, yes, I'm afraid they do, and the genuine good that is done in the name of the faith is often utterly overlooked. I know there are millions of people all around the world who walk a Christian path and spend their lives well and wisely, trying, with all their human frailty, to walk in the steps of a peaceful Christ and be a light in the world. I, who have been noted many times for my words against people who hide hatred in the words of their god, will always testify to the good done by ordinary Christians. I will also always testify to the good done by ordinary Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Pagans, Atheists and ordinary people of no faith whatsoever.
The vast majority of human beings are trying to walk a path that is good. It saddens me that sometimes, in the clashes between people with rigid viewpoints, that these good walkers are stung and hurt and slandered. To all moderate, accepting, love-led Christians, on this site and in the world, I humbly apologise if my words ever have hurt you. That was not my intention. I am not a perfect pagan. Indeed, I am not a perfect anything. I seek only to ensure that extremist viewpoints, which have always had a horrifying tenure in power, do not win too many converts in this world, and are balanced by more rational voices.
May your god go with you.

You can say what you want, and I won't disagree that you are a good person. But no matter how many times you say that you respect other peoples opinions, your religion tells you that those who are not like you are going to burn in hell for all eternity. So perhaps you might also hold that belief deep down inside. So don't say that and then walk away thinking that you are gods chosen people and all others are doomed. Do all Christians think this way? Its arrogant wouldn't you agree?

Unfortuneately many who call themselves Christians are not attending any group or organization that will help them get past the basic level of "I beleve in God and the bible".
There is so much more to it than that. How about a poll that asks people if they have made Jesus Lord of thier lives.
For instance, The divorce rate for those that claim to be Christians is over 50%. however the divorce rate for Christians who attend church once a week is 40%, and again the divorce rate for those who worship in the home together besides going to church is 20%

As a Christian Canadian, I say that it is time for all Christians to start spreading the word that Jesus died for sin. It is already paid for and we are not to judge others because it is God alone who is our judge. Every one of us is a sinner and that is why God had to come to earth in the form of a man (Jesus) to pay for our sins because only God can take away sin. No man, prophet, priest or anyone else can take away sin. My Lord is alive and will return soon so we better be ready for His coming. Amen. Christians, it is time to win souls to Christ before it is too late. I am sorry if this offends some but that is what the Lord requested me to do and that is what I WILL do. We, Christians, will receive persecution from the "world" but we must carry our cross for Christ's sake. Amen. Praise the Lord and thank you for your question.

There is no such thing as a perfect Christian.
The essense of being Christian is the constant search for Godly perfection.
True Christianity is revealed through the keeping of a pure heart, a pure mind and by the purity of your actions.
Only by living a life based on these tenets, will you achieve perfection.
Jesus said; 'Do not store up earthly treasures, instead seek your rewards in Heaven.'

No one expects you to be perfect especially a perfect Christian but even I, heathen though I may be, can see that you're not a True Christian. A True Christian wouldn't brag about "doing a lot of good".
