i would say its jus for taste to sprinkle on salt. It's definitely not healthy to consume too much sodium but i guess a little bit added to anything you eat won't hurt. Unless your tastebud is very salty and your diet consists of some items with very high sodium content in large portions (preserved salted pdts for eg.), then you have to look into adjusting ur tastebuds on the whole. Maybe a healthier choice to make a difference is preparing potatoes with other methods instead of deep frying. anyway i love the true potato flavour when fries are unsalted, and u get them specially prepared piping hot and fresh when u make a request for unsalted fries at the big M restaurants!

salt would make french fries/potato chips tastier. it doesn't mean that without salt, it will be healthier because there are still some oil in fries or chips. Maybe it will become healthier if they are baked instead.

i miss them espicaially kethcup but i learned to make my own here 3 large floury potatoes frying oil salt Peel, then slice the potatoes very thinly. A mandolin does the best job of this and the slices should be as thin as a wafer. As you slice, drop them into deep, cold water. Bring a deep pan of frying oil to 190 C or 375 degrees F. Dry the potatoes thoroughly, then fry them for a couple minutes until they're crisp and golden. Drain them on paper towels and then season generously with salt. i seson them with old bay or curry

Salt-free would be a healthier choice, as the salt partially enhance the tasteless potatoes.

Salt is better than no salt but only use a little or you'll ruin the delicious potato flavor

salt raises blood pressure and puts undo stress on your heart, the oil in fries is bad enough, you can always bake the chips to make them crisp, just spray them with pam

of course they would be healthier without salt, but they would taste more bland, a little salt brings out the flavour.

This reminds me of a guy who pigs out on 3-4 burgers, fries, and other miscellaneous things, and then orders a diet drink. Do everything in moderation and you will be ok. Death is inevitable.
