It's misinterpreted by many--tolerance does NOT equal acceptance. It simply means a live-and-let-live mentality; i.e., you can disagree with a person's beliefs/lifestyle/whatever, but you recognize that they do have a right to what they follow.

It depends on the context.
Being tolerant to ones Spritual Practices means to patient even at the face of Failures, or no immidiate results and keep on trying. It is Said that some times a newly wed women immidiately wants a child :) .. but she has to wait and be patient for 9 months.. Similarly we must be patient.
Being tolerant in preaching about God means to be humble and respect the freedom that God has given to each individual soul. We have to simply continue our duty and tolerate all insults, abuses or arrogance.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has said that "One must learn to be more humble than a blade of Grass and more tolerant than a Tree. In that state one will be able to always remember God."

Being tolerant means putting up with ideas or situations that do not conform to your beliefs. There is no excuse to tolerate the intolerable though, like tolerating people who condemn you to hell (doesn't exist) for not sharing their delusional superstitious (religious) beliefs.

To be tolerant itself means to put up with others irresepective of how they are and what they are? Even the saints are not able to do it. So, you aer asking for too much.

To be tolerant is to allow others to exercise expressions of their beliefs, cultures and traditions. It also means to allow forces of nature take its course like heat and pressure.

I have found that people who demand that I be tolerant really are not tolerant themselves. They want me to conform to their way of thinking.

Being tolerant is being non judgmental. It means that you have your ideas and you allow others to have their own ideas without ridiculing or belittling their ideas. It is something we have entirely too little of in this world.

To not only accept people for what ever their (different) beliefs are, but to let them be and not judge. It is for Him to judge, not us~
"Judge not lest you be judged." Between tolerance and patience these are the 2 mankind seem to be having the hardest time with. But we must try.

Tolerance means that you accept people as they are. You accept their imperfections, and most importantly, you accept their differences, be them socioeconomic, age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion.

You don't try to change those who are different. You just accept and embrace the differences.
